Lovely Lavender | RELAX AND RECHARGE FOR THE WEEK AHEAD

By Dominick H.

As the last weekend of the summer comes to a close, we're often faced with pre-work jitters – that looming sense of anxiety mixed with a touch of melancholy. Our mind races, deadlines seem to pile up, and we just can't let go of those lazy summer days. Luckily for us, there's an amazingly simple (and beautiful) cure for those end-of-summer blues. Aren't you ready to feel refreshed and ready to take on the fall?

Lavender has been used medicinally since time immemorial. Many ancient peoples have used it in perfumes, bath waters and even as an oil for the skin. The students of ancient times would  wear "necklaces" of lavender or put some in their pockets to keep them calm and relaxed (hello, back-to-school season). The tips of the blossoms have also been used to flavor desserts and drinks of the sorts. The leaves have even been used as a tea. Point being: this is a highly-revered, highly-regarded fragrant flower.

So, as you wind down this holiday, start preparing for the week ahead, and welcome the impending fall season, try bringing a bouquet of lavender into the home. The scent of lavender has been associated with calming the nerves and removing anxiety and stress from the living (or working) area. Also available are lavender floral wreaths, which you can pick up at a local farmer's market or even make if you're feeling especially crafty. You can hang these on the door and it will waft its beautiful fragrance into the room.

A healthy home is a happy home (and refreshing one). So bring a little lavender into your sacred and divine living space. Everyone can reap these beautiful benefits.

And, to top it off, I've got a great little recipe for a soothing lavender tea to help you shake those pre-work jitters tonight:

*Dried Lavender Flowers (let them soak overnight) or use a tea bag if available. Then prepare the tea accordingly.

*A couple sprinkles of cinnamon

*A teaspoon of Raw Wildflower Honey
