How I'm Doing It In NYC | THREE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS THAT KEEP ME HAPPY AND HEALTHY

Hiddo / project: Clean Food

It is so hard out there to stay focused, and motivated, and inspired to live an authentic and honest life that is filled with health and happiness. I've definitely battled and struggled with it every single day of my life. But instead of focusing on the terror and negativity of society and the media, I'm just focusing on doing me. Instead of worrying about what is going to happen or not going to happen, I'm just focusing on doing me. Don't get me wrong, it's super hard out there to be consistent. It is a lot of work and commitment and dedication required to stay healthy both mentally and physically. It is lot of work to keep your body and mind physically fit. It is a lot of work to keep your surroundings healthy and pure each and every day. So it is important to follow your intuition and your heart and your spirit; let it guide you to all that you wish for. Let your intuition and your spirit continually guide you towards that beautiful life that you've always dreamed of. It's a challenging battle to get there, but we have to work hard and devote ourselves to that healthier, happier life. We deserve at least that much.

So what am I doing these days?
How am I having fun, feeling good, and staying healthy? What am I doing to jump over the hurdles and obstacles of life? How am I staying inspired and constantly motivated?

Here goes...

1. Doing What I Love
I'm painting a lot. For those of you that have spoken to me recently, most of you know that I've been working diligently on my Kate Moss inspired piece. It has been about three months working on it. I sketched it. I added charcoal. And now, I'm painting it all. It's taking a lot of time, but I'm in no rush. I'm really enjoying the journey towards completion. Also, I've been painting and designing hats. I have no particular business venture or plan at this point with it. I'm just having fun with the process. In the above picture at the top of the article, I'm actually wearing one of these hats. Pretty cool right?  And amidst all that, I'm still teaching meditation and doing quite a bit of consulting. My life is consumed and I'm super busy. But I love it. I love the way everything is happening. I spend time with those I want to spend time with: and those who want to spend time with me. I get to see the people I love and care about. I feel great. It's hard to maintain my relationships with friends and family alike. But at the end of the day, I'm loving life. Dope, right?!

2. Yoga Chitta Vritti. Whaaaaaaa?
Engaging in the practices associated with Yoga has really enhanced my life. I meditate often. I do breathing exercises everyday. I stretch my body at least three times a week. In addition, I workout almost everyday doing tons and tons of calisthenics: push-ups, sit-ups, crunches, shit like that. Our body and our mind is linked. And once we truly understand this phenomena, we realize how important it is to nourish our body with exercise and physical fitness on a daily basis. Lately, I've been going to Kula Yoga. I've been going to Jivamukti Yoga. I've been going to Pure Yoga. I love these places: good yoga, good music, sexy people, peace vibes, I mean why not? Many of my friends teach and practice at these places. So these yoga studios have become not only places of knowledge, health, and enlightenment, but I also have a ton of fun when I visit these places. Besides, being associated with these communities keep me internally calm, quiet, and disciplined. And these qualities are what help me on a daily basis when I'm in the insane craziness of this mad, mad New York City: which I love.

3. New York City Swag
Vintage Shops, yup I'm there. Williamsburg, yup I'm there too. Soho luxe shopping, yup check mark. Strand books and other antiquarian book shops: yup I'll be there. Fashion shows, art openings and presentations, museums, cool restaurants, live music performances, yup all that.  And let's not forget about one of my favorite haunts: Whole Foods. I love to get my raspberries, my turkish figs, my avocado, and my banana. As far as good eats are concerned, lately I've been to Sweet Chick, a dope restaurant in Brooklyn and in the Lower East Side of Manhattan that specializes in chicken and waffles: um, ya, no brainer. I sometimes find myself at Insomnia Cookies getting some good ol' fashion chocolate chip cookies and milk: I'm such a baby and I LOVE IT! Clubs and lounges, eh, sometimes. I've spent a lot time in my past life working in nightlife and partying way too much. While I enjoy it from time to time, it's not my overall preference of things to do. However, it's not completely out of my book to go out partying in some ratchet hip-hop club, or dancing to some good trance / electronic music, or simply chillin' the fuck out and enjoying a good German wheat beer from time to time.

I guess that's the latest...

But what does all this have to do with healthy living? I'm not really sure. But what I do know is, that when I'm doing these things, I feel amazing. I'm enjoying my natural rhythm. I'm not doing anything in any particular order, or because they are things that "healthy people do". I do whatever I want that I feel adds value,  credence, and purpose to my life. Because at the end of the day, If we as people are happy and we are having fun, we're in the right place. Right?

But then again, this is my life. So make sure you find your life.

Turn up: your life vibration, that is...
